jASON AMORE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

CHANGING LIVES

The creation of the Jason Amore Memorial Scholarship was established with aspirations of continuing Jason’s lifetime of giving back and making a difference in his community and in the lives of college students. Our goal is to raise $50,000 so that we can establish an endowed scholarship to award a $10,000 scholarship to support four years of higher education for an individual qualifying through their classroom efforts, extracurricular activities, and leadership in their community.

The scholarship is named for the former Friendship High School baseball and basketball standout who finished his high school career as the ninth leading scorer in the history of New York State basketball with 2,332 points. Jason would go to become an Alfred University Athletics, Section V Basketball and Allegany County Sports Hall of Fame member and serve three Universities as a Vice President for University Advancement. He raised countless millions of dollars to support college students.

He would pass away tragically at the age of 48 with so many more lives to impact, so in memoriam we seek to continue his endeavors.

In addition, dollars raised above $50,000, and from the proceeds of the Jason Amore Memorial Golf Tournament (on Friday, July 12th at Wellsville Country Club) will help us establish the Jason Amore “Shooting Star” discretionary fund. We will seek to raise funds for deserving Allegany County student-athletes and families to assist in their pursuit of becoming the best version of themselves as Jason did.

This fund will award up to $1,000 each summer to Allegany County athletes seeking to attend summer camps to improve their skills and have new experiences. Jason spent countless hours at summer basketball camps and would go on to become a coach at those summer camps where he constantly developed those skills. In addition, through a nomination process the “Shooting Star” fund also seeks to support other specific needs that Allegany County athletes and their families have in terms of expanding opportunities for themselves to learn, grow and improve.

Thank you for considering keeping Jason’s legacy’s alive by supporting young people in reaching their goals as was his passion.
